Oxyfi has received a new order to upgrade a number of rail vehicles in Sweden to state-of-the-art 5G-based connectivity. With this assignment, Oxyfi modernizes the onboard communications platform to deliver improved radio performance, higher data rates, and increased robustness.
The upgrade significantly improves radio reception, particularly in challenging radio environments along the rail network. It also ensures that the solution keeps pace with ongoing changes as mobile network operators continuously reallocate and further develop their use of frequency bands.
Oxyfi delivers the upgrade through the installation of OxBox — a roof-mounted, quick-to-install unit that brings together more than 15 years of experience in connected rail vehicles into a single integrated unit.
The proven solution uses multiple mobile network operators in parallel. By applying intelligent traffic steering, the platform aggregates multiple simultaneous mobile connections, delivering both higher overall capacity and significantly improved availability compared to traditional single-network solutions.
With this upgrade, Oxyfi provides a future-proof communications platform that enhances the experience for Wi-Fi-connected passengers while also enabling robust and reliable connectivity for onboard systems, which operators increasingly connect and rely on.
