Oxyfi has won a new contract from a Swedish, undisclosed train operator to upgrade its existing onboard Internet (IOB) solution to multiple aggregated 5G connections. The project will be carried out using Oxyfi’s world-unique concept for connected rolling stock – OxBox.
A unique end-to-end solution for connected vehicles
Delivering mobile connectivity with high stability and performance on fast-moving trains is a complex challenge. With OxBox, Oxyfi has packaged over 15 years of experience in connected trains into an easy-to-install, roof-mounted solution. Since the entire connectivity solution is housed in a robust box, maintenance is straightforward, future upgrades are seamless, and installation time is minimal compared to conventional setups. Performance is further enhanced by extremely short antenna cabling and state-of-the-art 5G modules from the industry’s most reputable manufacturer.
Future-proof and flexible investment
A particularly appreciated feature of OxBox is its ability to be easily complemented with, for example, satellite communication or additional 5G connections. The entire box can also be transferred to another vehicle when needed – something unusual in the rolling stock industry and a feature that makes OxBox a secure and well-protected investment over time.
“This contract is yet another confirmation that OxBox is a solution that meets the high demands of tomorrow’s digitalized railway. We are proud to contribute to higher performance, easy and efficient maintenance, and an improved passenger experience,” says Håkan Larsson, CEO of Oxyfi.
